Restoration of a 17th Century Elizabethan Style Oak Court Cupboard From 1686

The Court Cupboard was meticulously restored from a severely deteriorated state. The restoration involved replacing shattered oak, reinforcing the original mortise and tenon joints, and straightening the cupboard door hinge. The new oak was carefully carved, shellaced, coloured, and patinated to match the original 17th-century decoration. The cabinetry received a fresh wax treatment, and the original colour and intricate patina details were restored, including the spooky grotesque mask. The cupboard is now fully restored and ready to last another 340 years.
